On April 29, 2026, DIPA director Marit Skivenes gave a keynote titled Child Protection Systems and Legitimate Interventions at VIA University College, in Aarhus, Denmark.
Prof. Skivenes´s talk was part of a workshop for the research project Handling Child Abuse Referrals: Problem Construction, Professional Discretion, New Procedures. The project is led by principle researcher and head of the Research Centre for Social Marginalisation Vibeke Asmussen Frank, along with principle researcher Lene Mosegaard Søbjerg at VIA University College. It investigates how professionals in Danish child welfare services handle referrals of child abuse, and examines the institutional process from when a referral is received to when a “Barnahus” is activated and interventions are offered.
