SUMMARY:Webinar: Protecting Children\, Creating Citizens
DESCRIPTION:Child participation is one of the core principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The Convention asserts that children and young people have the right to freely express their views and that there is an obligation to listen to children’s views and to facilitate their participation in all matters affecting them within their families\, schools\, public services\, institutions\, government policies and judicial procedures. Although the Convention on the Rights of the Child recently celebrated its 30th anniversary\, there is still a way to go on securing children’s right to participation. What does research tell us about what inhibits and promotes children’s participation? She is also affiliated with CORE – Center for Gender Equality Research\, Department of Social Research. Cathrine Holst’s professional interests are political sociology and democracy research\, social and political theory\, knowledge and expertise in politics\, the EU\, the Nordic model and European integration\, gender equality policy\, feminist theory and gender research. Holst is currently leading the EUREX project: Expertization of Public Inquiry Commissions in a Europeanized Administrative Order (2016-2020). DESCRIPTION:Hvordan ser den europeiske menneskerettighetsdomstolen på retten til familieliv og på prinsippet om barnets beste i adopsjonssaker?\nRetten til respekt for familielivet skal sikre alle borgere beskyttelse mot uberettiget inngripen fra staten. Men i barnevernssaker har staten også en plikt til å gripe inn i familielivet dersom det er nødvendig av hensyn til barnet. Slike inngrep er ofte kontroversielle\, og noen av de mest konfliktfylte sakene havner i Den europeiske menneskerettighetsdomstolen (EMD). Domstolens avgjørelser får stor betydning for praksis i det norske rettsvesenet. Men hvordan ser EMD på barnets rett til familieliv når barnet ikke lenger kan leve med sin biologiske familie? Hvordan definerer de familiebegrepet? DESCRIPTION:Asgeir Falch-Eriksen \nChild´s Right to Participation and Professional Practice in Child Protection Services \n  \nAsgeir Falch-Eriksen is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Welfare and Labour Research\, Oslo Metropolitan University. He is a political scientist with the main research interests being political theory\, trust theory\, public administration\, epistocracy\, politics of families and child protection. DESCRIPTION:Kan musikk hjelpe barn og unge som har en vanskelig oppvekst? \nMange unge i barnevernet har psykiske vansker og opplever utfordringer knyttet til tillitt\, identitet\, deltakelse og trygghet. Kostnadene ved manglende forebygging er store\, både for det enkelte barnet og for samfunnet. I flere kommuner har man tatt i bruk musikkterapi som et verktøy for å fremme trivsel og sikre barns rett til å bli sett\, hørt og forstått. Kan musikk være et verktøy som gjør unge i barnevernet bedre rustet til å takle hverdagen? \nViggo Krüger er førsteamanuensis og leder for Griegakademiets senter for musikkterapiforsking\, UiB.
