DESCRIPTION:Michael McCann is Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington. Professor McCann’s research focuses on the politics of rights and rights-based struggles for social justice\, with an emphasis on challenges to race\, gender\, and class hierarchies. He also was an important figure in the interpretive turn toward scholarly analysis of legal discourse as a constitutive form of power. SUMMARY:RDV: Judicial Politics in the European Court of Human Rights (Øyvind Stiansen)
DESCRIPTION:Øyvind Stiansen is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Oslo. His research interests include judicial politics\, the appointment of judges\, judicial impact\, compliance with judicial decisions\, and applied quantitative methods. He is also interested in the European Court of Human Rights and international courts and tribunals\, and has researched judges’ career incentives and ideology\, and how judge behavior is affected by changes in the political context. DESCRIPTION:Regjeringen har nedsatt Barnevernsutvalget som skal vurdere tiltak for å styrke rettssikkerheten i alle ledd av barnevernets arbeid\, fra undersøkelsesfasen til ettervernsfasen. Marit Skivenes er leder for utvalget og vil i dette foredraget presentere sentrale utfordringer i norsk barnevern som utvalget arbeider med. \nSkivenes er professor i statsvitenskap ved Universitetet i Bergen og senterleder ved Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism. Hun er anerkjent som ledende innen internasjonal barnevernsforskning. \nBarnevernfrokost er en åpen webinar-serie om barnevern og barns rettigheter. Serien arrangeres av Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism (UiB) i samarbeid med Bergen kommune – Etat for barn og familie og Centre on Law and Social Transformation (UiB).
